Due to the current ongoing situation, the June 2020 DTCA AGM, did not take place.  We will try to reschedule for later in the year once matters are clearer.

Production of the DTCA special edition Omnisport model has also been postponed.

Unexpected recipient of 20+ Dinky toys / matchbox - many still sealed in original packaging

Hi All,

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, please offer advice and guidance please.

As the topic states, I've recently became the unexpected recipient of 20+ dinky toys.

These include

Dinky military kit -die cast metal 1038 scorpion tank

Dinky die cast toys - aec artic. Transporter with chieftain tank.

Dinky osa 2 missile boat 672

Above are selected at random, and in sealed, unopened condition.

Having joined as a member, I'm looking to ensure that these pieces are owned by people who appreciate them for what they are and not as a means to make profit.

I'm not a collector nor have the space to be a collector, however have been captured by the detail and functionality of the toys.

As I'm based in the U.K., is there a good place to go with the view of getting the collection valued as a job lot or single pieces.

Thanks for your advice and guidance on both the content and where this post is best suited for the forums.

Regards,

Pete Gemmell

Pete,

Welcome, and I hope you stay as a member and get hooked on keeping at least some of your Dinkys.

Many of the collectors here (though myself excepted) are interested only in an older era of Dinky Toys, which may be why you have not heard anything. Also we are very much of the "keep and enjoy" persuasion and hate to see anyone selling their models!

As you can imagine, you will get much less selling as a job lot than when offering the Dinky Toys individually (on eBay for example). Since you are in the UK, you have a wealth of options that we who are elsewhere can only envy, including not only eBay, but also swapmeets, car boot sales, and auction houses. There is also a Dinky Toys Collectors Group on Facebook where people post models for sale; most of the members there seem to be UK-based and so that venue might suit you well if you prefer to meet a buyer in person or do not want to post overseas.

Regards,

Jonathan
