Searching on the DTCA site

I must be doing something wrong....a lot of times I try to search for a topic that I know has been discussed on the forum, and I try entering either the Dinky model number or the name, and I often get either nothing or very little. The latest example is the 690/161b Mobile Anti-Aircraft Gun. I clearly remember a discussion, with photos, etc. from many members, and now I cannot find it. Also, it appears that simply browsing through the forum is limited to just the past year.......anything prior to that must be searched? Please give me some instruction on how to properly search....thanks!
Regards, Terry

Terry,

There is no thread for this gun. There is a picture of the trade box in "trade boxes"

This picture should have been posted in a 161b / 690 thread.

This is going to create an argument but the "trade boxes" thread should be for general discussion about trade boxes and not for posting pictures of various trade boxes.

Imagine that 200 pictures of tradeboxes are posted in that thread. That will make 20 pages, a pain in the neck to find the box that you want if it has been posted. If the picture is posted in a specific thread for the model that it contains and that the title of the thread has been written properly as : ref number - dash - model name then all you have to do is search for the model ref.

690/161b Mobile Anti-Aircraft Gun is not good, it should be 690 / 161b so that you can search either 690 or 161b.

Anti-Aircraft can also be Anti Aircraft without the dash. Search both.

There are two search system on this site. One at the top of each thread page with an empty box to type in and a box 'GO". If you clic in GO and have not typed anything in the box, you access a more comprehensive search page which allows you to search either for complete threads or titles only. The problem is that you can not see the search button. At the botom of the page are two empty boxes. The search button is the one on the left. If you place the cursor on the box, the word search appears and you can then clic on it.

Good luck.

Jacques.
