The picture, as presented in thumbnail format (why?) is too small, in my opinion. When clicking on it the original uploaded size is demonstrated, as far as I can judge. That bigger picture, however, still disappears within a few seconds, which makes it impossible to study in detail.
Kind regards, Jan
See The Journal April 2015 for a article on the Fire engine
John
Thank you John. And now I hope a notification email will be generated to be sent to you, otherwise this forum is hardly suitable for practical use, now that the old website has been closed. With kind regards, Jan
Following the discussion in the 39d Buick Viceroy Saloon thread I refer to (the late) John Beugels' article (The Journal, April 2015, pages 10-15) discussing the factory drawings for the nos. 25h and 25k Streamlined Fire Engine (referred to by John himself above).
Whereas the large technical drawing is dated 17 July 1935, the addition of the supports/bosses (A) dates of 11 August 1936. This is also confirmed by the 'Complete' drawing with the actual addition of the base plate (issue 3). The model was available in April 1936. Now the question remains if there are early models without bosses added or if the additions on the drawing are a late registration of an existing situation (which happens every now and then). Whatever, examples with bosses and at the same time without base plate do exist (as John also shows), but I don't know if (and John does not refer to either) actual examples without the bosses do show up. So, if they do exist, please show, someone. Kind regards, Jan
P.S.: Never mind the cryptic fuzz above, first experiments with the renewed website ...
Is this what you want to see ? a 25 h / k without the boses.
The 25h / 25 K / 250 is peculiar with a construction which I think is unique to Dinky Toys. On most Dinky Toys, the base plate maintains the wheel axles or the axles are inserted into holes of the Baseplate. On the fire engine it is the axles which maintain both types of baseplate.
Great Jacques, now the puzzle pieces do fit, thank you!
I failed to check your CD very well. By the way 7 years old already ...
Kind regards, Jan
Dear Jan,
Seven year is a long time, since you got your CD, it has been enlarged 3,4 time. I keep finding variations and informations.
Do you know about the update program ? Owners of a CD can get an update by returning their CD with only € 35 to receive an up to date USB memory stick.
Kind regards.
Jacques
Returning to the (very early) experimental initial post here, I realized that there was a third application envisaged for this ladder of the Streamlined Fire Engine. It was (or better: was to be) used for a planned model of a Bedford WLG of the early 1950s too! This mock-up was part of the Chris Wade collection, discovered in 2004, auctioned at Bonhams, and won by Jean Marie Gianni from Paris. (The Journal January 2015 p. 18 and April 2015 p. 23). Now in the L'Auto Jaune collection: https://autojauneblog.fr/2020/01/26/lodyssee-des-scarlet-arrow/
