A nice dark blue no. 23s Streamlined Racing Car raced in from Guernsey the other day, the anonymous brother of nr. 23m 'Thunderbolt' Speed Car. Pre-war it had many but silver colours, post-war also many colours but especially silver, because the coloured ones (with black hubs) lasted until about 1949 only, whereas the silver one (with black and later cream hubs) survived as no. 222 until 1956, always packed in trade boxes of four.
All coloured versions were fantasy of course (like so many post-war coloured aeroplanes, previously more realistic pre-war issues), as there was only one original Thunderbolt, in silver.
Kind regards, Jan
