Hello All!
Today I was doing a little cataloguing in the second-hand emporium of an acquaintance here in Folkestone when I came across three Dinky boxes in very good condition. I asked the proprietor if he'd mind me alerting everyone here about their availability. He said he was happy for me to do so. I hope that it is appropriate to put the details here.
The boxes are for the following models:
198 Rolls-Royce Phantom V. The only fault I could find with this box is where the tape on one end flap has lifted the surface on the long side. Otherwise very square and presentable. This is the box that appears in Bruce's thread in the 198 and looks as good as Bruce's example in post #3.
241 Lotus Racing Car. Again a very good box as shown in Richard's 241 thread. It is the small, fully enclosed box as per the two examples underneath the see-through box in post #1.
944 Shell-BP Tanker. This box is the type shown in Bruce's 944 thread, post #1. It is better than the example shown but has some spots on the top surface. These may be removable with some judicious cleaning and I am prepared to try an experiment with a very soft rubber eraser. I shall take photos the next time I'm there, which will be later this week.
If anyone is interested, I shall be happy to put you in contact with the gentleman concerned.
John
I've just noticed that my post from yesterday has become (all but) invisible and appears in the NEW POSTS & PAGES section greyed out as 'DINKY BOXES' followed by 'edit delete'. I'm not sure why this is but I hope that by adding this comment I can give it visibility again.
These boxes will only be available briefly before they get put into auction or on ebay.
Just to note that links become greyed after you have clicked on them. It is a feature that helps you to see which pages you have already visited. Other members will see links in blue in the first instance. The panel New Comments refers to replies to a post. In other words, a new post is not a comment on that post.
The initial page link will remain in the New Posts & Pages panel until successive new pages push it off the bottom of the list.
Thank you Al.
I suppose I should have been able to work that out for myself because that's exactly what happens in the New Comments section! I sometimes wonder whether my brain is actually still functioning. :-(
