Having made a replica of this lovely pre-war toy, I have decided to make a second and hopefully better one. I have been studying photographs of originals, and have discovered that there were two different roof/canopies fitted. One, which I believe to be the earliest, extends almost to the front of the base - the other stops at the back edge of the pump island where it meets the drive-through roadway. I am assuming that the canopy was shortened to avoid roof damage through bending, and to allow little hands to drive their cars through without knocking the pumps over, but I may be wrong.
I have dimensions of 134mmx194mm for the base, but would like confirmation of this and the sizes of the other parts (roof length x width, office length, width, height) if at all possible.
Can any DTCA members help?
_Kevin.
I have the roof width at 114 mm. But I think that there may be a variation on this figure. Can any one help ?
Jacques.
