Peter Golden

Our webmaster, and a dear friend of mine, Peter Golden sadly lost a long battle with cancer and passed away yesterday 10th November 2011.

The absolutely superb website we have here is due to the long hours Peter spent in development and maintenance - it truly is a world leading site and a long lasting legacy to the skill and dedication that Peter spent creating this superb and vast bank of information.

Peter loved his Dinky Toys and was passionate about sharing his knowledge, we are all richer for knowing this friendly, generous and genuine man.

He was a true friend and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to his loving and dedicated wife Sheila.

I can only echo David Busfields' comments.
Peter never hesitated to share his knowledge, and it was shared in a pleasant and helpful manner.
Peter was a great gentle man whom I respect for the type of person he was.

I had the pleasure of a visit to Peters' home as part of my visit to England and after attending the Dinky Toy 75th Anniversary celebration in Derby.
He welcomed me warmly and took me on a tour of "his" home town of Seven Oaks. We had a great day which is one of the warmest memories I have.

I wish his wife Sheila to remember the wonderful man he was and how well thought of he is by myself and many others I have communicated with.

I also wish there were more men in the world that were like Peter.

I met Peter at the 75th Dinky toys Jubilee in Derby.
He sat across me at dinner and we discussed our hobby.
He was an interesting collector of the items that many of us would not collect, such as the Dolly Varden's house and furniture.
At the same time he was a wizard in technological systems, and it was because of him that the inspired DTCA website came to fruition.
Thanks to him, I could connect via Skype in the 2010 AGM and participate in the meeting with my comments.
I wish I could have known him better, but at that time he was already having health issues and although his powerful mind wanted to do more, his fragile body would not let him. In spite of this, he would develop the DTCA website as much as possible, including placing archival material and much more information so that we all can benefit from.
As a Dinky collector, DTCA member and friend to many, he shall not be forgotten. His legacy will be a great website that will be hard to follow. May he rest in peace.

Yesterday I have immediately sent this message to Sheila, which she accepted as a great comfort, as she let me know:

Dear Sheila, please accept my sincere condolances. I feel deep sympathy with you and your family for this terrible loss. Of course we 'knew' what was going to happen, but it still comes as a big shock. I am 'far away' but I hope Peter's other Dinky friends on your side of the North Sea will be able so visit and comfort you on behalf of us all.
My best regards, Jan Werner

I met Peter Golden at the 75th Anniversary in Derby. I enjoyed reading his commentary about Dinky Toys.

I am saddened to hear of his passing and I express my condolences to his wife and family.

Me too I met Peter at the start and at the end of the 75th Dinky Toys Anniversary in Derby.
I have been most impressed by his knowledge of the most intricate details of the Dinky Toys range, explained at will with calm and patience. The DTCA site is a masterpiece, created almost from scratch. He will be sorely missed by all of us.
Dina and I present our saddest condolences to Sheila: we all lost a dear man hard to replace...

The sad loss of Peter Golden after a long illness will be felt by all the DTCA and many more.

Peter had a love of Dinky Toys and especially the early pre-war figures and accesories. This looked back to the early days of Dinky Toys, but Peter was also focused on the future of Dinky Toys. As a result he set up the DTCA website. This will be a tribute to him and a source for collectors of Dinky Toys for many years to come.

We are sorry to have lost you Peter, but our website is your legacy.

Our thougths also go out to Sheila at this difficult time for her.

As I am a new member, I did not know Peter very well and I met him twice, each time at the annual meeting of these two last years.
I felt he was a very good man and happy to help our little community. Thanks to him.
To his wife and family, I present my sincere condolences.

I was saddened to hear the news about Peter. I first met him at the 70th Anniversary exhibition and later at the DTCA stand at one of the Sandown Fairs. He was knowledgeable and always helpful, in particular he gave me much advice on Dinky military figures and I treat his DTCA article on them as my "bible". A hard act to follow,we members will miss his expertise. My condolences to his family. Malcolm Hay

Thank you Peter for all the hard work and Dinky Toy knowledge you put together to create our very own Website. I and all Members of the DTCA will forever be grateful to you for this and the Website will be seen as a testament to your life and great knowledge of our hobby. Tony 25
