For the real-world prototype of this Paris bus Somua Panhard I came across a much better photo than before, with a more similar roof box, be it in black and white.

Jan-- Very nice photos of the bus, and they clearly show how accurately the French Meccano factory made it. My own example, bought back in 1959 or so from H.Hudson Dobson, was very chipped when I bought it. I always assumed it was maybe leftover stock that never sold and was stored improperly. I still have it, but not nearly as pristine as your very nice example.
