I think these are about all South African military Dinky vehicles concerned. However, if others can expand this list, please do!
Kind regards, Jan
I'd seen some of these before, but not the 30f Ambulance, or the 25h Fire Engine, they are gorgeous. Surprised the Fire Engine didn't sell, I presume these were made late '40's?
Were these painted in the UK or assembled and painted in SA?
 Chris Warr.
Hi Jan
Having seen the mention in the April 14 Journal about the article in the Model Collector on the South African Dinky I tried to get a copy but it was published in March and sold out. Have now obtained a copy but as a collector of Military Dinky disappointed that there is no useful mention of the South African Defence Force (SADF) issues except to state that they were not covered by the article! You mentioned the "Guernsey Collection" with the list of the auction items but was No 341 ((No 27m) Land Rover Trailer also part of the SADF issue?
Best regards
Malcolm
As far as I know, the special SADF models are :
 22 c Motor truck.
 25 bm Covered wagon.
 25 d Petrol tanker.
25 h Streamlined fire engine in army green overpainted on the red.
25 p Aveling Barford diesel roller.
 30 f Ambulance.
33 ? Mechanical horse and covered trailer.
 34 c Loudspeaker van.
 37 c Dispatch rider.
 280 Delivery van.
But the SADF also ordered some standard Dinky Toys :
 151 a Medium gun.
151 b Six wheel army wagon.
 152 a Light tank.
 153 a Jeep
161 b Anti aircraft gun on trailer.
 162 a Light Dragon tractor.
 162 b Ammunition trailer.
 162 c 18 pounder gun.
 340 Land Rover.
 341 Land Rover trailer.
 621 Three ton army wagon.
 622 Ten ton army truck.
 641 One ton cargo truck.
 651 Centurion tank.
 670 Daimler armoured car.
 676 Armoured personnel carrier.
The army green Land Rover trailer is supposed to have been made for the Aldershot training center, not for the SADF. Did Aldershot also ordered some army green Land Rovers ?
