I have a good collection of Eagle comics which were first published in April 1950. During the mid 1950s and 1960s hundreds of adverts appeared in them for Dinky, Corgi, Crescent, Triang and numerous other toy manufacturers.
This was the very first advert in the Eagle for Dinky which was in the issue from 10th August 1951.
It was the time of the Korean war when there was a metal shortage and they are encouraging collectors to swap toys between themselves until the supply problems improved.
It is a lovely image from a time long gone.

A time long gone indeed, can you imagine any modern company urging lads to swop models till they can get new ones?
Wonderful advert.

Do you have any more advertisements from EAGLE that you can share with us? What a wonderful era in which we grew up - EAGLE and its strips, Dan Dare, PC49, Storm Nelson, Jeff Arnold and Riders of the Range, Luck of the Legion, Harris Tweed, the centre cutaways, Macdonald Hastings Eagle Investigator, Jack O'Lantern, The Youngest Disciple, and the other historical strips on the back cover, as well as Lion (although I never subscribed to it - inferior paper!, Meccano Magazine, all things Meccano, and for your Mum the Women's Weekly and for the parents John Bull/Everybody's. It was a real sunny, tranquil era now sadly forgotten!
Still I look forward to seeing more advertisements from Eagle Dave - when you have the time, and seeing it is one year and eleven months ago, it is time again!
Kind regards

Here is a nice Dinky advert:
It is from the Geographic Magazine of April 1952.
I have collected dozens of these old adverts from various publications and when the new DTCA website goes live (later this year) I will do a dedicated article on them as well as something in the Journal.

What a marvelous diorama - it looks so real. But what a surprising magazine to see an advertisement for Dinky Toys! Many thanks for sharing it with us - most appreciated.
Kind regards
