-390 Customised Transit Van (1979-80)

I recently acquired several prototypes from the sad year of 1979, when Binns Road was trying to wring some profit from existing tooling in ways that were not particularly tasteful.

The prototype Customised Ford Transit is relatively attractive and is clearly derived from the 417 Motorway Services Van. The tape stripes on it are an inverted version of the ones used on the 202 Customised Land Rover, which was the ultimate recipient of ths color scheme.

The production version of the Customised Ford Transit is blue, with some unfortunate stickers which on my sample were not placed well. It also received chrome-plated exhausts, which on the prototype are black.
