Meccano Magazine

Dear all, today a friend of mine drew my attention to:

http://www.nzmeccano.com/MMviewer.php

and:

http://www.meccanoindex.co.uk

I did not know them yet. If you don't want, or cannot afford, the complete paper series of Meccano Magazine, but you are still very much interested into its contents, these two Meccano Magazine sites are the solution.
The Magazine appears to have been fully scanned and indexed on these sites. For quick reference they beat the Hornby Companion Series no. 7, the fine but hard to consult reference work by Joseph Manduca. The indexes are great and the index entries offer direct links to the very Meccano Magazine pages. Even if you have the complete paper Meccano Magazine series, here is the index you needed so badly!
I will have to test them better to understand the full merits of these sites, but they seem to be really excellent!

Kind regards, Jan Werner

I have looked at these two sites and they are excellent and very easy to use. I was able to view articles from many old Meccano Mags and found one in particular from the February 1964 mag which was written by the toyman and showed how you could make a snow scene with Dinky models using table salt! I remember replicating this and causing several of my Dinky cars to develop rust - we all know now what salt does to metal!

This is a page from the October 1943 issue of the M.M.

Does anybody know who / what was Bonds 0' Euston road Ltd ?

Found easily on the Brighton Toy Museum website:

httpWs://www.brightontoymuseum.co.uk/index/Category:Bond%27s_of_Euston_Road

What sad times these were, in every way? I wonder if many prewar Dinky Toys wound up being melted down as part of the war effort?

Many thanks for this interesting link. I have visited the Brighton toy museum a few years ago but I did not know that hey had a web site.

There was a shop similar to Bond's in Paris but it has gone a few years ago. They sold Dinky Toys but also all the parts for model ships and aircraft.
