I've seen three in the last five years on e-bay, they go for a lot of money.
I don't know how many were made, there are no figures available for the production of Dinky Toys.
I know our chairman, Michael Driver, has one and he took it with him on show on the first DTCA AGM meet in 2007.
Regards, Jan
I have just bought one of these complete with box and I am waiting for it to arrive.
Does anyone know if this promotional vehicle was done for Brook Bond or Trojan?
Thanks Dave
These are the pictures from the Dinky Toys Encyclopaedia, nothing is known about this model.
Some production figures are known for three or four Dinky Toys but they are not accurate. For example we know that over 1 000 000 were made but is this for the type 1, the type 2 or both ?
Atlas says that some sets are limited editions to X,000 but can one trust Atlas ?
Dinky Toy production has nothing to do with this question, I am interested in who sponsored Dinky to make this model.
Dave
I have never seen any info on who ordered this model, as stated in my post above : "nothing is known about this model".
Congratulations on getting one Dave! A real result!
I've still never even seen one in the hand.
Chris Warr,
The Trojan van arrived today and both the model and box are in mint condition, it really is special.
My main computer is away being repaired at the moment so I am doing this on Julie's I-pad and can't do photos, I will post some images as soon as I can
Dave
Looking forward to it Dave.
CW.
Here it is, and as you can see, it is in mint codition.
I am doing some investigation to try to find out more about this label, and whether the promotion was for Trojan or Brooke Bond
Dave
At last, now I believe you, Dave :)
A rare beast, the more in a condition like this!
Congrations, Jan
Thanks Jan
The Dinky and the box are absolutely superb.
I am now starting to gather some information about this promotional vehicle and will do an article for the next Journal.
Dave
It's wonderful Dave! You did really well finding that one!
CW.
Good catch Dave !
Dave, it may be nearly nine years since you posted this but I've only just come across it. What a cracker!
I've always liked commercials more than cars and, since I can remember Trojans in service, am a fan.
John, thank you for the kind comment, it is still in a prominent place in my collection. Dave
