A Gathering of Transporters

I was cleaning out my display cabinet not so long ago and took the opportunity to take a group shot.

Original including playworn, Restored and Code 3 all have a place in my collection.

Gosh, that is quite a collection of transporters.

Can you please inform us about the variations on the 974 AEC and the 983 Leyland ?

Hi Jacques

Only minor variations on the AEC, several colour shades on the trailer. The major variations are on the cab,

The 983 Car Carriers are all the same.

Since the photo's were taken I have chemically stripped the most playworn version and sent it to the UK to be refurbished as a Code 3 Auto Transporters 989 with Trailer.

I now display the code 3 next to my original 989 Transporter. Bizarrely enough I have picked up two 989's on our local auction site here in NZ for comparatively little money.

Original 989's have a decal guide cast into the side of the carrier to locate the Auto Transporters signage.
