Hi all, I just received a set of photos from Jose Heraud showing a highly remarkable recent acquisition of his, an all light blue Hillman Minx Saloon. The finish appears to be original. The first explanation that comes up is that this example should have been a duo-tone blue/pink Hillman, as introduced in 1956, but erroneously without the second colour applied. Jose is interested in any opinions about this.
Kind regards, Jan
PS: I hope and trust that the limited quality will not be an obstacle.
I also think that the model has missed the spraying mask for the 2nd color. On Vectis and QDT this single color blue can not be found either. Documentation also does not mention this single color blue. But besides that, it remains a special example. Human errors were of course also made at Meccano Liverpool. Maybe seen by mistake as a 40j / 161 Austin Somerset Saloon, which has exactly the same color. Women don't see the distinction in car brands.
Kind regards, Jan Oldenhuis
