Watching on TV Great British Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo, only because my wife completed her secondary school education in Maghull, we learnt of its most famous son. Seeing the correspondence with Liverpool in The Journal (July 2020), prompts the fact that Maghull has a Frank Hornby Heritage Centre and apparently a Frank Hornby Experience. A trust operates the centre, and have had contact with the Liverpool Museum who had a Liverpool on Wheels exhibition with Meccano/Hornby Trains/Dinky section. Wife is miffed as she was refused a Meccano outfit as a girl, as it was a “boys toy”!
