Six years ago I acquired a number of items that had formerly been in the Meccano Sales Manager's office. It is a Dinky Toys 178 Mini Clubman but in a colour trial that was eventually used for the 207 Triumph TR7 Rally.
My question is: What Sales Number should I use when describing this Mini Clubman? It certainly is not a 207, so I presume 178 it should be!
One can see the accumulation of "stuff" the model collected while sitting in the SM's office!
Hi,
There is a better photo of it or were two made ?
Anyway, 178 is the only solution, certainly not 207 but had it been issued it would probably have been given a reference in the 200 series.
Ah, my photograph IS better!! (LOL)
But where did yours originate? Off an auction catalogue?? The additional chips leads me to suspect that there are two of the little fellows!
Yes that's the idea, at least two of them.
In the Encyclopaedia, the caption for this picture is : Un-issued factory colour sample sold on eBay on December 13, 2007 for
Bruce--Very nice to see these "oddities" and rare pieces show up. Dinky stories and history are apparently endless.........it just goes on and on!
