--25r and 420 Leyland Forward Control Lorry (1948-61)

I find this little truck very amusing and I think that it was a very good toy for the young boys to play with !

So, I think that it has its place in this forum.

Here are mine :

and the three different underneath

Hi Richard, quite some colour variations! I only have three. Two of which are different from yours. Some pictures:

The scale issue of this model is interesting too, as it is the lonely single 1950s model which does not have a scale match with another Dinky model, as shown in the Dinky, Dublo & Horby Scales List of 30 October 1949, with extensions up to 16 February 1961. Many post-war re-issues of pre-war models do not show up in that list, which explains why the 23m/23s Thunderbolt and it's later Streamlines Racing Car issues are being neglected, which happens to have the same scale:

Length of the real Thunderbolt (as stated by Meccano): 30

Very interesting Jan.
A thing that I will never understand is why Meccano changed so often of scales !
They probably did not think to the harmony in a collector cabinet !
Friendly yours

Richard
