New arrivals (cont...)

Hi Ron.
Lovely Foden, memories for me too, every year when I was a kid we went to Haverfordwest on holiday, I remember Robinsons! I had a lovely French Dinky Berliet bus from there one year. In those days, very early 70's, you would get an odd look if you asked "got any old stock?" in toy shops, and sometimes a dusty box would come out of the back.
Cheers
Chris Warr.

Hi Ron, wonderful acquisition you have. My favourite tanker, with its bright colours!
The introduction of the new Dinky Supertoys brand was announced in MM of January 1955. In February there was actually an advertisement in MM of existing models under this label.
I believe that introduction on the boxes was mixed-up more or less. As far as I'm aware the May 1955 Coles Lorry Mounted Crane always has 'Dinky Supertoys' on the box, whereas indeed the June 1955 942 Regent Tanker started with 'Dinky Toys' and later boxes have 'Dinky Supertoys'. Still, the June 1956 660 Tank Transporter had its first (yellow-lid) boxes with the brand name 'Dinky Toys'. Possibly the design and development of these models and their boxes had sequences different from the actual announcements or introductions. 'Typical Meccano', we say.

Kind regards, Jan

Hi all,
Just had a look, my Regent is in a Supertoys box, no QC date I can see, but it spent many years the wrong way round in the box and the filler caps have worn away the inside top unfortunately. My Mobilgas is plain Dinky Toys, and has a QC stamp R2 4. I'm guessing there's supposed to be a 5 between the 2 and 4 making Feb 54?

Chris
You are absolutely correct in that there is a missing "5" in the stamp code. Just why this is the case I have no idea as it was very common with the early blue covered boxes with orange or red, covered label.
Quite often when one cannot see a QC stamp it will suddenly turn up under a different lighting condition. Also, with fhe earlier blue covered boxes, the stamp can be found on the base of the box on the exterior. Of course with the stamp in blue it is often hard to see it, but under a fluorescent light often the stamp can be deciphered. This is also the location for the stamps on the 25X and the fork-lift truck whose number I cannot recall!

Kind regards
Bruce. (150)

And here is my new one   The B.M.W. 2000
I was waiting for it since a long time.
I don't know yet if the lights work ; I just cleaned it.

Friendly yours
Richard

Hi Richard,
That is so nice, all the display pieces as well! I loved this one as a kid.
Hopefully you'll have better luck with the lights than me, I bought a Spot On Zodiac with working lights last week, put a battery in, and they worked! For 2 seconds, then the 50 year old lamp blew. Need to find somebody who has old stock lamps now.

Hi all,

Just arrived, two Bentleys in green. Surprisingly it took some time for me to find this model in green in a good condition. I was lucky to be able to buy two different shades of green together. Both have ridged hubs.

Kind regards,
Rob

Hi all,

Together with the two green Bentley's a pre-war red Chrysler Airflow and a post war olive green Vauxhall with smooth hubs arrived.

Kind regards,
Rob

Lovely additions there Rob,
That airflow is really nice, not seen it in that shade before either.

Great pre- and early post-war acquisitions, Rob (as we are used to see from you!).

I wonder if the colours of our Vauxhall examples are the same, or if there is just a photographic difference. Mine could be characterized as moss-green, yours looks a kind of brighter green. It is a slightly later issue with ridged hubs (c. 1946-1950).

A nice occasion to present a new addition of mine too, a cream/green Duple Roadmaster Coach, neither model nor box perfect, but a very reasonably priced item.
I intend to present some more photographes of this and other examples tomorrow, in an appropriate new thread.

Kind regards, Jan

Rob--
Those are very nice acquisitions, with 2 Bentley's, an Air Flow, and the Vauxhall. I have never seen a red Air Flow before, so am assuming that red must be somewhat rare. The Vauxhall is probably my favorite 30 series, and I have a nice brown one that I purchased years ago from a dealer in England. i
And Jan, very nice Duple Roadmaster bus in a very nice color combination. I am posting below some images of my similar models, but nice going for both of you.
Regards,
Terry

Hello Jan,

The colour on our Vauxhalls is most likely the same. I made the pictures with my mobile phone. The colours look different than the actual colours. The red Airflow looks much darker red than the bright red it actually is.

Love your bus with apple green hubs, very nice!

Kind regards,
Rob

Hi all,

This little gem arrived in a small package. A postwar 60k Light Tourer in almost mint condition. It looks a bit faded in the picture, but is unfaded bright red. I was able to buy some very nice pre war camouflaged
aircraft from a US collector. These will follow later, with an unusual story.

Kind regards,
Rob

This weeks arrivals are predominantly late production versions, plus a model I have been trying to acquire for some time, I finally got one at a decent price.

Mercedes Limo

VW Porsche 914

Lotus F1

Mclaren - This model came "home" from the US, The Mclaren family owned a service station here in Remuera Auckland and Bruce grew up not 5 km's from where I sit now.

Alfa Romeo Scarabeo

Finally the long awaited Leyland Octopus in Blue / Yellow, one slightly damaged rim but I can live with that. Another one crossed off the list!

Greetings all

I wrote of this new arrival in the "Just won this one ... Waiting for the Postman" thread, and it landed at our nearby post office yesterday.

I am delighted with it, as its quality matches the auction photographs and description! Only one more variation to find.

It may not be pre-war, or even early post-war, but I like it B) !!

Regards

Hi Bruce,

That is a lovely Terex! I think the model looks much more striking with red wheels. Well done.

Kind regards,
Rob

Rob

Thank you for your most appreciated words. I too think the 965 does look better with the red wheels. Just as well there were models such as the 437 on the production line at the same time, otherwise the 965 might never had been shod with these red wheels!

With my last post I forgot to mention that in the same parcel as the Terex, was my yellow-hub version of the 959 Foden Dump Truck with Bulldozer Blade. It too arrived in the condition as stated in the auction, and I am delighted with it too.

But not as delighted as with the Terex! Especially with the knowledge of having paid almost 50% less than comparable examples that have sold through that well known northern England auction house in recent years!!

Kind regards

Hi all,

Just arrived, a 39bu Oldsmobile. Not mint, but good enough considering its scarcity. My fourth 39 series with colored fenders. Two to go.........

Rob

Hi all,
Bruce, that Terex is lovely, those red hubs set it off great, again one I didn't know existed.
Rob, wonderful, I've been after any of the 2 tone exports for years, well done!

Several good arrivals today

588 Berliet Gak Beverage Lorry

810 Command Car

I recently bought an Atlas Dinky Saviem Horse Transporter thinking I'd never be able to afford an original version. However whilst the reedition was on its way to me I managed to find an original with free shipping for less than the price of the Atlas. Result!!

Comparative photo's below

The original has the slightly larger back card

Hello Rob

I was intending acknowledging your wonderful acquisition when your post was swamped with comments and another with new acquisitions. So I decided to add my post by quoting yours together with its fine pictures! (Which I reduced in size a little!)

That Oldsmobile must have cost you an arm and both legs! I am extremely envious! It may not be mint as you wrote, but it is close enough to that, with a nice color combination as well. Now that my Terex days are drawing to a close, hopefully I can save up for one of those u-beaut 39 series in US colours, woops, wrong spelling when discussing US models, colors!!

Kind regards

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your reaction, the Oldsmobile was US 405,-. Not too much in my opinion. I have seen these US colors sell for much more.
I was lucky, I guess...

Kind regards,
Rob
