-107a and 385 Sack Truck (1948-1958)

If you did not even have the money to buy a Matchbox model, then it might be just enough to buy this Sack Truck, one of the cheapest Dinky Toys, chaaper than a Matchbox toy indeed. It was introduced in Meccano Magazine of July 1949, in the range of smaller farm vehicles. It is a one piece casting, provided with two tiny all zamak wheels, which it shared with the no. 27b Harvest Trailer and the much younger no. 190 Caravan. As an exception this one was not numbered in the 105 numbers, but as a lonely 107 series number. In the end they all came together in the new 380's numbers. It was never sold in an individual box but from trade boxes of six. They were packed in pairs, wrapped in thin tissue paper. The older numbered trade boxes may also contain the scarcer  green version. The blue one is very common. It was pictured in colour (blue) only once, in the 1953 catalogues. Before that they were only shown in black and white and later catalogues made a textual reference only. The only reference cast in is the name Dinky Toys, on the back of two horizontal bars. If anyone can show a nice picture of the green one, with or without trade box, please do! Kind regards, Jan

Here is my lone example of the green sack truck, not in perfect condition, but with only a few very small paint chips. I did not know of the existence of the green version until I bought this last year, to be followed soon after by the more common blue. The shade of green is the same as the Fiat 600.
