--64a Amiot 370 (1939-48)

Come all ye experts in French Dinky aircraft and hearken unto me. I have seen a pre-war Amiot 370 on ebay which doesn't look quite like the ones I have. The wings are bulkier, tips more rounded, thinner and less tapering. It does however, look extremely like the illustration that appeared in the May 1939 Meccano Magazine.

Is it possible that there were two different castings for this model?

I'd love to know.

Sorry, I didn't mean the wings were thinner. The opposite in fact.

Welcome to the DTCA forum.

So far there is no known casting variation for the Amiot. It would have been useful if you had posted at least one photo as well as the link to the ebay add.

There is half a dozen Amiots for sale on eBay at the moment, one is a repaint, the paint is too good and the roundels much too small and the camouflage one is almost certainly a repaint as well as a camouflage version is not known.

The roundels were first painted with only the red and blue colour. The third colour was as the plane : silver, yellow, grey, lime and two shades of green. Transfer roundels were applied to the later silver models only (post war ?). The propellers are mainly red but may be in bare metal.

When you ask a questiion, please be as accurate as possible and quote the sources.

Thank you very much for your most useful and informative email. I have tried to reply before but I'm completely useless with modern technology which is why I've been unable to include photos.

The Amiot 370 which had me puzzled is in silver, priced at £71.99 and located in Shoreham by Sea. To me the wings seemed to differ from the standard model appearing to be more rounded at the tips and bulkier, which is why I asked the question.

It's good to know that there is someone with your level of knowledge on Dinky aircraft and I'm so glad you took the trouble to reply.
