--25bm Army Covered Wagon, USA market (1950)

A nice example of the Army Covered Wagon with silver painted headlights, which was available on the US market for about one year only. It was very soon succeeded by the 'modern' no. 30sm (Austin) Military Wagon.

The comment by José Heraud on diecastplus:

"A very rare DT Van that was issued for the American market for just one year. It was never shown in catalogues, except on a typewritten price list issued with the 1950 USA edition catalogue, for HH Dobson, US distributor. The number assigned was 25BM officially in the list. This van is based on a 25B covered van reissued post-war and painted in olive drab with silver headlights.

This one is similar to the South African Defence Forces issue, which is all painted in olive drab including the headlights, and sometimes it's confused with the American issue. This latter was requested by the SADF for training purposes with other models. The chassis is of the 4th. type all solid and has die cast bumpers. The original price was $0.85 . It was available in olive drab finish. Released as Dinky 25BM in 1950 withdrawn as Dinky 25BM in 1950."

Kind regards, Jan
