Thanks for the kind words Terry.
Here is a warehouse scene with the 923 Big Bedford Van being loaded by the 401 Coventry Climax Fork Lift Truck, some dinky figures and crates plus a home made pallet on the fork lift.

And now for something completely different.
A leaflet from August 1958 printed for the Spanish market.
Three racers, as seen from behind.
Of these three the Connaught is my favourite.
In reality it did not win a great deal but it just looks stunning.
Dave
On a similar theme to your race car image here is a Spanish leaflet from March 1958.
This features a Ferrari, Maserati and a Vanwall.

The Camera Man on the 968 BBC Roving Eye Vehicle.
The rotating lens mount can be seen with four different focal length lenses - zooms had yet to be developed.

No photography special quality, but interesting enough, this couple of design drawings:
Those two drawings are excellent Jan.
Here is the Roving Eye in its box with its packing piece.

These are two little beauties Jan
I don't have any French Dinky aeroplanes at the moment - that might change.
Dave
Well, Dave, they are really nice:

VAUXHALL
Jan-
Nice photos of the Vauxhall and very neat showing those 2 unloading from the plane. I also have the almost exact twin of the older Vauxhall saloon....the same color and condition....a very nice model indeed! The 30 series was a very nice and interesting one from Dinky.
Terry
Yes, Terry, lovely, aren't they?
Talking about twins, here is another remarkable couple, shining in the night:
Kind regards, Jan

HEAVY BROTHERS
I had some fun this morning producing this image of the Dinky Supertoys 966 Marrel Multi-Bucket Unit.
It is a multiple exposure (3 shots) showing the action of off-loading, or loading, the bucket onto the Leyland Super Comet.
It was fiddly to produce but I am pleased with the result.
Dave
Very nice photo Dave ! What kind of camera do you use ?
Cheers
Richard
Hi Richard
It's a Nikon D2X which is a high-end SLR, for the vast majority of my Dinky shots I use a Nikon Macro lens and always mounted on a very sturdy tripod.
All the focussing and exposures are on manual so I have complete control over everything that I do.
This enables me to do funny and interesting things like the Marrel Multi-Bucket shot.
I will be changing from the D2X to a D800 some time soon as my D2X is now 9 years old.
Dave
Dinky Continental Tours are on location in Bavaria. As luck would have it, this is Kulmbach Beer Week, so it's beer and bratwurst all round!
Fred--
Nice scene with the Dinky's!
Terry
I am feeling thirsty already
Dave
Nice Dinky scenes Fred!
RED ROVER!
Here are a couple of photos of the 2d Sheep showing significant weight differences.
The pre-war version is over three times as heavy as the post-war version.
The pre-war one would have made a much more substantial sunday lunch except that it is made from lead!!!
Dave
Remarkable Dave, is the post-war version hollow?
Or are both hollow in a different way?
The specific gravity of lead is 12250 kg/m3.
The specific gravity of zinc is 7200 kg/m3 (zamac = ca. 95% zinc)
So if the lead one is 39.7g one would expect the zamac one to be approx 39.7 x 7200 : 12250 = 23.3g!
Regards, Jan
When you "tap" the sheep they both feel very solid. I suspect that the weight difference is caused by a differential in wall thickness as well as the material used.
The only way to do this conclusively would be to cut them in half and they are far too nice to do that.
I would consider it if I could buy a couple of tatty examples very cheaply.
I will see what I can do.
