Fodens and Octopii

Another shot of some of my collection when removed from their display cabinet for cleaning.

I collect Original including playworn, restored and code 3 the pictures show a mix of all these.

Hope you enjoy

Cheers

Ay up Dave,
Some lovely stuff there mate. I love the National Benzole Foden, and Comet tanker, makes me wish they'd made these originally, they look so good.

Very nice, Dave, a great Foden / Octopus demonstation! The restorations / code 3 models are very well done. Did you finish them yourself?

This parade makes me think of one of my visits - some 10 years ago - to David Cooke, when we were playing Dinky Toys on the carpet all night, one of the displays, a 'Foden play' shown here. I expected David had mint & boxed only, but as you can see it is a mix of restored and original finished models. Your line up is even more impressive.

I can imagine the fun of having your models on the table all together and in your hands for a rare moment, when cleaning the displays. One of my photos of such an occasion below.

By the way, I do not intend to split hairs, and your plural octopii is very original, but I believe the Latin form is a u-declension, which produces (almost) the same plural: octopus. But in modern language it is of course octopuses (or octopussen in Ducth). Kind regards, Jan

Hi Jan

Thanks for your interest. I have generally bought the majority of Code 3's, the only one I have done from start to finish is the Military Octopus. I have plenty stripped and etch primed on the bench but I am contemplating colour matches before I put paint to metal.

It's been over two years since I took the photo's above and my acquisitions have kept on coming, I honestly didn't comprehend how many more I had acquired until I compared the set of shots below with those above.

I love the shots you took of David's models. I don't generally collect boxes other than if they are at the right price, unfortunately Foden and Octopus boxes (and mint models) are generally outside my price bracket.

After a quick google I discovered you are indeed correct on the thread title mistake.

Cheers

Dave
