I recently decided that I had made a mistake by not buying or collecting the military figures made by Dinky Toys over the years. This came about after another friend sent me some photos of his military vehicles, with several figures, either seated or standing in the area. I also quickly found out that these are now quite collectable, not real easy to find, and can be somewhat expensive to purchase. I was fortunate to hear of another collector wanting to sell some items, so I inquired if he had any military figures for sale, and found out he did. I was then able to purchase the 160/606 Royal Artillery Personnel set from him. After a couple of weeks, it arrived, and I was very happy to see that it was apparently mint in the box, and the figures likely never removed from their places. I have yet to take them out and do a proper display with some of my military pieces, but that will follow soon. After looking up in my reference books, it appears that this set was re-issued in 1952, with the new number being assigned in 1954. The date stamp under the box lid shows this was from May, 1955, and hand stamped with the newer number.
Regards,
Terry
