The AMI 6 is basicaly a 2cv but with a much biger engine, 602 cc later 1015 instead of 425.

The AMI 6 (6 is for 600cc) was issued in 1962 and until 1963 there was a spare tyre under the bonnet.
This version is quite rare. In 1963 an engine was provided instead of the tyre. The AMI was deleted in 1970, after a long eight years run.

This model which is the first French Dinky Toys with opening bonnet is qualified as "Super detail" as printed on the yellow box.
Although it was published in red on the boxes, catalogues and window posters, this finish has not been issued.

it has suspension and direction (an error by Meccano), red interior with white or rarely black single spoke steering wheel, opening bonnet and boot, spun concave hubs diameter 8 mm. in bare steel until 1966 then in aluminium with black tyres ref. 855. Exceptionnally dia. 10 mm. hubs with dia. 15 mm. tyres ref. 837.

The AMI was packed in yellow boxes but alsowith the reference 1557 in extremely rare blisters.

The English Dinky Ford Anglia ref. 155 which had been issued in 1961 a year before the AMI had also an inverted rear window. There was also a Ford Capri with this look but Meccano did not make that one.

It is not the AMI 6 which was fitted with a Wankel monorotor engine but the M 35.
The M 35 was an experimental car derived from the AMI 8 which itself was a lifting of the AMI 6. The M35 did not only have a Wankel engine but also the Citroën hydraulic suspension and a new gear box which was fitted later to the GS.
The M 35 body was pressed by Heuliez who also assembled the 267 cars made out of 500 planed. As the car number was painted on the body, Citroën cheated so that cars were numbered up to 500.
When Peugeot bought Citroën , Citroën bought back most of the M 35 to demolish them, only about 35 have survived. The M 35 was followed by the GS bi-rotor which were also bought back and destroyed.
