-560 Citroën fourgonnette 2 CV 'Postes' [Citroën 2 CV Post Van] (1963-1970)

Another recent acquisition for my collection was a very nice example of the Citroen 2cv Postal van.  This little van followed the original model, the 25d/562 Fourgonnette Incendie (Fire Department), which was introduced in 1958 and discontinued in 1963.  The Postal version was made from 1963 through 1970, so quite a long run.  In spite of that, like other French models of that era, it is somewhat difficult to find really nice ones, and even more so with the bright yellow paint finish, which tends to clearly reveal every tiny blemish.   Another version of this was the 562h "Wegenwacht" van, made only for the Netherlands market, 1965-1968.

My example is a somewhat later example, as the original model number of 25d is missing from the baseplate, and it also has plastic tires and the anodized baseplate finish.  Other the being made of plastic, I do like the appearance of those plastic tires, as they have a nice, fine tread, not exaggerated like the British ones of the late 1950's.  I  am wondering if they also resist getting flat spots?

This is a very nice casting, with crisp detailing and a wonderful paint finish, that stands out due to the simulated corrugated metal body panels.  However, the small Postal logo/decal on each door is quite small and plain, but also accurate.  Finally, notice that the box it came in shows Meccano-Triang, meaning this was later than 1964 when Lines Brothers purchased the company.

                     Best regards,  Terry
