-149 & 1413 Citroën Dyane

Following this morning arrival, I think it's time to open a new topic on this Citroën.

First photo : Both sisters with their different wheels.

By the way Jacques, the grey wheels are not the same than those you show in your encyclopaedia. The tyres are marked "DUNLOP"

Second photo : The two sisters with their french cousin, which is very happy to have found its box !

Third and fourth photo : This time the bonnets and the rear hatch are staying open very well, without any help !

You can see the little design variation between the english and the french engine. (just behind the radiator)

Fifth photo : The base plates. As the grey wheels are thinner than the speedwheels, the rear axle is protected by some kind of pipes, on each baseplate sides.

Unfortunately the previous owner as put some stick on the french base plate !

Citroën or Panhard ?

When the real Renault 4 was issued, Citroën decided to re-look the 2cv but the design office was busy with other matters and could not do the job. As Citroën had just bought Panhard and that the Panhard design office had little to do, it was ask to design a new car based on the 2cv. which they did.

At that time, Citroën were designated by a combination of letters such as DS, CX, AZL, AZAM etc... but amazingly the naw car was named DYANE, a peculiar name prety close to DIANE but not quite. The reason is that Panhard had registered several names starting with DY such as DYNAMIC, DYNA and DYANE. So the name gives away the real parents of this car.

Je n'avais pas encore vu le dessous de la Dyane anglaise avec jantes tournées. Pourrais-tu m'en faire une grande photo au moins aussi grande et aussi droite que celle-ci ?

Je pense que la variante de moulage à l'avant du moteur est due à l'usure du moule et n'est pas délibérée.

D'autre part je n'ai rien sur la variante Espagnole. Connais-tu quelqu'un qui en a une ?

Hi Jacques.

I think there is a real engine design variation between the cousins.

Here under, a new photo showing 2 different details : The air filter is much bigger on the english Dyane and the space between the air filter and the radiator has been filled.

Also a new photo of the baseplate of the grey wheels variation. I don't know what kind of material they are made with.

If it's not good enough for you, I will make an another one ! (the daylight is dark to day)

Thank you for the picture although it is not very sharp because of the fog which we have had in the last three days. A better picture will be welcomed when the natural light improves, probably after to morrows elections.

Are the spacers on the rear axle in two short pieces or a single long piece ?

In the mean time, have a nice x'mas.

Many thanks Richard this completes the set of four different base plates for te same casting. Probably a record.

I agree that the boss in front of the air filter's pipe is larger on the English issue and then certainly on the Spanish one. It must have been enlarged at some stage.

Do any French Dyane have this enlarged boss which contains the assembling screw or do any English Dyane have the small boss.

I will investigate this to morrow.
